Activity 3.5 - Website Research
Task
The websites provided for this activity will give you more details about the agencies mentioned in chapter 5 of your manual. When you meet people involved with these agencies, it will be helpful if you have enough background to interact with them knowledgeably.
Access each of the following websites and spend some time exploring them (about 5-15 minutes). If you are not already familiar with a website note down some facts about the agency and how it works.
- Ministry of Justice Courts
- Ministry of Justice - fines information
- Victim Support
- Police prosecution service - statement of policy and practice
- Community Probation Service - Corrections
- Salvation Army - example of alcohol/addiction recovery support
- Forensic psychiatry service - example
- Office of Ethnic Communities
- Information about about interpreters
- Public Defence Service
You may wish to bookmark the ones you believe you will refer to once you are working at the bench. To do this go to 'Bookmarks' in your browser, set up a favourites folder and just add websites as you choose.
